What is next for the Morning Service
Last Sunday our morning congregation had lunch together and we talked about where our service was going. We had a really good conversation, and you can read the notes from it here:
What is next for the morning Service
Responses and further thoughts are welcome below. My plan is to draw these ideas together into a statement of vision, and present this to both services as part of our vision seeking exercise.

This week I have mostly been thinking about the morning service vision lunch... Well that is to say I have been thinking about it. I don't have time to write much now but I just wanted to really encourage people to use this space to do just that... Come you morning folk! Actually it would be really good to hear what evening people think too. Maybe evening service don't have much to say??? should they? parhaps not...??

Thought i would have a go at answering Steve's question as a morning person......
- Is it a good place for families?
- Is it a good place for young kids?
- What about older kids?
- What should be done at church and what should be done in a more child friendly enviornment?
- How can we ensure families worship together and have some part of the service together?
- How can we bring kids into the church family?
- How do we build older kids into the morning (or indeed evening) congregation?
Well some of them anyway...i think it is a good place for families...not sure if its an easy setting for families to walk into as we are quite small...but then some people like that...i for example would probably feel quite nervous about it but would prefer that to a massive congregation.....the past couple of weeks we have had some breakfast together which i think is easier to come inot...people milling about, eating etc! Sure it must feel a bit odd when you forst come in but think its a welcoming thing to see!
I do also think it is a good place for young kids and for older kids (if we could keep thenm there)....i think that Bekky loves the fact that she has friends her age there...but i also know that she loves hanging out with the slightly older kids too and Mucha as well. At the end of the day i hope its the church that she will grow up in and be one of the ones that looks after the young ones herself!
I suppose the rest of the questions are what we talked about at the vision lunch...like how we need to be building links with the local schools and trying to get the kids into church that way...i think helping them to get involved in church will be a way to integrate them into the morning service....i know that at St Andrew's on the first sunday of the month they have an all age worship and the young people are on welcoming (with an adult) and they do the prayers and the reading etc.
Anyway that's probably enough from me and it probably doesn't even make sense but thought i would respond!
