What is your Theological worldview?

Had lots of conversations about this Theological worldview quiz recently, so I thought I would post it on this blog too. It isn't too serious, and neither is it flawless, but it is interesting and a good discussion starter. Take it here, and post your results in the comments below.

I just took the quiz again.

You are Emergent/Postmodern in your theology. You feel alienated from older forms of church, you don't think they connect to modern culture very well. No one knows the whole truth about God, and we have much to learn from each other, and so learning takes place in dialogue. Evangelism should take place in relationships rather than through crusades and altar-calls. People are interested in spirituality and want to ask questions, so the church should help them to do this.

Oh dear. Slightly disturbed at how high the liberal scored there. Think I must have hit the 'I don't know' button too many times...

Although some of the questions are quite open to interpretation aren't they?....I wonder how they define "worship", "gifts of the spirit" and "supreme authority of the Bible".....

Yes... I ended up about 90% Weslyan interestingly. Don't quite know how that happened... and rather more Roman Catholic than my rejection of the Pope should allow. Still...

I did the test again after doing some reading about the theologans mentioned, and I came out differently this time...

You are neo-orthodox. You reject the human-centredness and scepticism of liberal theology, but neither do you go to the other extreme and make the Bible the central issue for faith. You believe that Christ is God's most important revelation to humanity, and the Trinity is hugely important in your theology. The Bible is also important because it points us to the revelation of Christ. You are influenced by Karl Barth and P T Forsyth.

Fundamentalist 57%

I had never heard of P T Forsyth, but after this came up I went and looked at some of his stuff, and it is really good. I learnt something from this!

I wonder what your feelings are on the significance of these results?

Out of interest here are some of the blurbs for different outcomes...

You scored as Reformed Evangelical. You take the Bible very seriously because it is God's Word. You most likely hold to TULIP and are skeptical about the possibilities of universal atonement or resistible grace. The most important thing the Church can do is make sure people hear how they can go to heaven when they die.

You scored as Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan. You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God's grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavly by John Wesley and the Methodists.

You are a fundamentalist. You take the Bible as the foundation of your faith and read it very literally, and it shapes your worldview. Non-fundamentalist Christians have watered-down the Gospel in your view, and academic study of the Bible stops us from 'taking God at his word.' Science is opposed to faith, as it contradicts basic biblical truths.

You scored as Roman Catholic. Church tradition and ecclesial authority are hugely important, and the most important part of worship for you is mass. As the Mother of God, Mary is important in your theology, and as the communion of saints includes the living and the dead, you can also ask the saints to intercede for you.

You scored as Charismatic/Pentecostal. You believe in the primacy of spiritual gifts and the importance of renewal of the body of Christ. You are likely to be suspicious of or even hostile to older non-charismatic churches and revival is high on your list of priorities. You are a firm believer that God's Spirit is as active today as in biblical times and you are likely to devote less time to academic study of the Bible and theology.

Hmm. Quite a broad range actually with the top four...although I've no idea who the theologians were so just put '3' for them. maybe it would change things but not that much I guess. What's interesting is i'm not exceptionally stron on anything...shouldn't that mean i'm a wooly liberal?! Very glad to see that fundamentalist scored low, though.

While some of this is correct some is quite wrong. I think this quiz seriously flawed. Different traditions understand certain terms to mean different things. Also, for many of the questions such as the importance of communion and different styles of worship are poorly formatted. I believe all of these things (worship, communion, teaching, etc) are important and no one is more important than the other. Further, worship, in my definition is all of these things.... our whole existence should be lived in worship as we demonstrate the love of Jesus to those around us. Anyhow... interesting quiz. I had never heard of Karl Barth and found his views and history to be very interesting.
